British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers
About
The UK's largest recurring contemporary art exhibition brings work by more than 30 artists to the Mead Gallery, exploring empathy and otherness in divided times.
British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers is the tenth edition of the UK's largest recurring contemporary art exhibition, produced by Hayward Gallery Touring as part of the Southbank Centre's 75th anniversary programme. Curated by Ekow Eshun, it asks what forms empathy or shared imagination might take in polarising times, challenging fears of otherness rather than framing the stranger as a threat. The exhibition is organised around three overlapping themes — Moments of Being (inspired by Virginia Woolf), Ways of Living (inspired by Stuart Hall) and States of Nature (inspired by Timothy Morton) — spanning the psychological, sociological and ecological. Featured artists include Nengi Omuku, Matthew Krishanu, Jasleen Kaur, Jesse Darling, Alvaro Barrington, Precious Okoyomon and Emma Talbot, among more than 30 in total.
