Cambridge Local Group Event: Do Bumblebees and Honeybees Eat the Same Pollen?
About
A talk by PhD candidate Nynke Blömer on a two-year study of how bumblebees and honeybees share pollen in Cambridgeshire.
Nynke Blömer, a PhD candidate in the Agroecology Group at the University of Cambridge's Department of Zoology, presents findings from a two-year field experiment using bumblebee colony sensor systems and pollen analysis. Working with local beekeepers, her research examined how honeybees and bumblebees share — or don't share — pollen from flowers when their colonies coexist in the same landscape. The hour-long talk runs from 19:00 to 20:00, with tea and coffee from 18:15. It is a hybrid event: in-person attendance needs no booking, while the online option requires advance booking via Eventbrite.
