The FRO: New Models for Ambitious Research
About
An evening discussion at Merton College on why Focused Research Organizations are emerging as a new model for funding ambitious research.
The event examines how research that is too ambitious, engineering-heavy or public-good-oriented for a traditional lab or startup can be organized and funded. It first takes a wide-angle view of why new institutional and funding models are emerging and where Focused Research Organizations fit, then zooms in on a concrete FRO example to show how the idea took shape and works in practice. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the program starting at 7:15 pm; the session is aimed at researchers, founders, funders, policymakers and anyone interested in new ways of organizing ambitious research.
