Sinfonia Cymru with Sidiki Dembélé and His Ensemble: Yiriba

Wales' young orchestra Sinfonia Cymru joins Ivorian percussionist Sidiki Dembélé and his ensemble for Yiriba, blending West African music with classical works.

Sinfonia Cymru, a collective of professional musicians all under 30 who perform without a conductor, return to Wiltshire Music Centre with celebrated Ivorian drummer and multi-instrumentalist Sidiki Dembélé and musicians from his ensemble Percussion a’Abobo. Yiriba, meaning 'mighty tree', references the wood used to make the ensemble's instruments. The programme combines new West African music with music from Wales and elsewhere in Europe, mixing reflective moments with infectious rhythms. A pre-concert talk starts one hour before the performance.
