Castle and Countryside
About
A guided Hackney walk follows the story of its disguised Victorian pumping-station “castle” and the regenerated New River reservoirs, ending at Woodberry Wetlands.
The Council’s 2026 Walks of Interest programme describes a free, guided walk through Hackney’s history and regenerated landscapes. It meets at Manor House Underground Station from 11am to 1pm on 7 November and ends at Woodberry Wetlands. Advance booking and programme registration are required; the Council currently reports the walks as fully booked and offers a waiting list. The guide is identified only as Sue. The PDF’s meeting-point postcode (N4 2LJ) differs from TfL’s station address postcode (N4 1BZ).
