Aurora and the BBC Singers

Aurora Orchestra and the BBC Singers perform psalm settings by Muhly and Bernstein alongside Bach's Magnificat, co-curated by Edmund de Waal.

Aurora Orchestra's latest collaboration with the BBC Singers pairs psalm settings by Nico Muhly and Leonard Bernstein with Bach's Magnificat, a canticle that reimagines the psalm tradition. Bernstein's Chichester Psalms draws on his Jewish heritage, while Muhly's newly-composed settings give the ancient texts a modern voice. Writer and artist Edmund de Waal co-curates and introduces the programme, reflecting on the Psalms as vessels of memory across the Abrahamic faiths.
