Komedia New Comedy Award
About
Semi-final heats and grand final of the Komedia New Comedy Award 2027, a stand-up competition showcasing emerging comics.
The Komedia New Comedy Award returns in 2027, run in association with Comic Boom Comedy Club and arts journalist Victoria Nangle. Hundreds of aspiring stand-ups submitted clips, with nine chosen comics performing in each semi-final heat in the Komedia Studio. After three heats and wildcard contenders, 27 semi-finalists are whittled down to nine finalists who compete in the Grand Final in the Komedia Basement, judged by leading figures from the comedy and television industry. The winner receives a bespoke award, celebratory fizz and a spot at Comic Boom Comedy Club. Performances are unreserved cabaret seating, ages 16+.
