Stile Antico

Stile Antico traces Holy Week from the Crucifixion to the Resurrection through Renaissance settings of the Stabat Mater and Easter motets.

The vocal ensemble centres the women who followed Jesus, moving from the Virgin Mary’s grief to Mary Magdalene’s discovery of the empty tomb. The programme includes works by Palestrina, Taverner, Monteverdi, Guerrero and women composers Sulpitia Cesis and Claudia Francesca Rusca.
