Build the Scaffolding
About
A free drop-in family workshop where children build model scaffolding around a cardboard cathedral tower and learn about the pinnacle restoration project.
This hands-on drop-in session invites families to explore Worcester Cathedral's Pinnacle Restoration Project through objects, visuals and creative play. Visitors can watch a time-lapse film of the scaffolding being erected around the tower, handle real scaffolding materials and learn how specialist stonemasons are reconstructing the pinnacles. Children are then challenged to build their own scaffolding structures around large cardboard models of the Cathedral Tower using straws, lolly sticks, pipe cleaners, masking tape and Blu Tack, before sending miniature 'masons' up to repair a pinnacle. The workshop is recommended for primary school-aged children and runs alongside a second session, Mini Masons: Sculpt a Pinnacle, the following day.
