The Hallé — Pastoral Dvořák, cinematic Sibelius & Adès
About
The Hallé orchestra performs Dvořák's In Nature's Realm, Adès's Violin Concerto and Sibelius's Lemminkäinen Suite at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall.
The Hallé, conducted by Elena Schwarz, plays a programme pairing Dvořák's pastoral tone poem In Nature's Realm with Thomas Adès's Violin Concerto 'Concentric Paths', performed by violinist Leila Josefowicz. The concert closes with Sibelius's Lemminkäinen Suite, four Kalevala-inspired poems including The Swan of Tuonela, in what the page notes is its first Nottingham performance. A free pre-concert talk by William Ruff at 6.20pm introduces the Sibelius work, and the concert runs with a 20-minute interval until around 9.20pm.
