Reading: Then & Now

An exhibition pairing paintings, drawings and prints of Reading from the last 250 years with photographs of the same views today.

Reading Museum displays artworks from its collection depicting Reading over the past 250 years, each shown alongside a modern photograph of the identical view. The display focuses on familiar town-centre locations and the two rivers that define the town, encouraging visitors to explore the streets themselves and spot surviving landmarks such as church towers, bridges and rooftops. It was created with support from Reading Civic Society, Snappy Snaps, Museums Partnership Reading and volunteer photographers.
