Worthing: Introduction to Wood Carving, 2-Day Workshop

A two-day hands-on workshop for all levels learning traditional ornamental wood carving with professional tutors Joseph Murphy and Cassidie Alder.

This two-day course teaches the fundamentals of traditional ornamental wood carving, from choosing and maintaining tools to professional tool handling. Attendees begin with a small chip carving project before choosing between an ornamental or figurative relief carving as their main project, covering marking out, roughing out, detailing and finishing. Everyone goes home with their own wall-hanging or free-standing relief carving. The course is open to all levels including absolute beginners, with materials and professional chisels provided; there is a one-hour lunch break each day.
