Summer's End
About
A guided Samhuinn-themed evening walk along the Water of Leith with lanterns, folklore, fire and harvest traditions, finishing with a warm treat.
Marking the turning of the seasons, this event draws on the ancient traditions of Samhainn, when the boundary between worlds was said to grow thin. Groups of up to 12 set off from the Visitor Centre every 15 minutes between 3pm and 5pm, walking into the woods and along the river with stories, lanterns, a little guising and encounters with the unexpected. The tour lasts around an hour and a half and ends back at the Centre with something warm and harvest-inspired. It is aimed at all ages, though spooky themes make it unsuitable for under-fives.
