October Half Term 2026 – Corn Dollies and Witch Bottles
About
Follow a Witch Bottle trail and make a Corn Dolly during the museum’s October half-term programme.
Inspired by the Folklore exhibition, the half-term programme pairs a Witch Bottle trail through the permanent displays with Corn Dolly crafting. Collect ingredients for a protective Witch Bottle charm to take home, and learn about Corn Dollies and the folklore behind these wheat charms before making a Countryman’s Favour to take home. The trail runs 24 October to 1 November. Drop-in crafts run 29, 30 and 31 October, 11:00–15:00. Both are included with museum admission; children aged 16 and under enter free. The museum is normally closed Thursdays, with a special 11:00–15:00 opening on 29 October. Contact the museum about access needs.
