Sophie Bartlett Exhibition
About
A solo exhibition of landscape paintings and drawings by Sophie Bartlett, winner of the museum's inaugural Landscape Open Competition, in the Small Exhibition Gallery.
Sophie Bartlett won the inaugural Landscape Open Competition in 2025 with her artwork Hawkley Hangers VI, and this solo show presents work made in response. She drew and painted in Wiltshire's chalk downland in late spring and among linseed fields on the South Downs in Hampshire during high summer, capturing the two landscapes at different moments in the season. Her practice begins with extensive drawing before developing paintings through a dialogue between perception and memory. The exhibition complements the Landscape Open 2026 competition.
