BEDLAM 2026: Theatre, Sanctuary and Wellbeing, Discussion
About
A facilitated Birmingham Rep discussion exploring how theatre can support the wellbeing of refugees and people seeking sanctuary, part of the BEDLAM 2026 symposium.
This facilitated discussion, presented by Birmingham Rep as part of the BEDLAM Arts & Mental Health Symposium, examines how theatre can support the wellbeing of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. It reflects on The Rep's Theatre of Sanctuary work and practice with local community groups, alongside insights from other Theatre of Sanctuary organisations across the UK. Aimed at practitioners, artists and organisations, the session invites shared learning on meaningful, ethical arts engagement with sanctuary seekers. It begins with a short welcome from the BEDLAM 2026 Partners at 11am, with the discussion starting at 11.15am and lasting one hour.
