Marks of a Maker: The Stories Coffins Tell Us
About
A free interactive pop-up at UCL exploring the Petrie Museum's coffin conservation project through talks and hands-on activities.
The Petrie Museum of Egyptian and Sudanese Archaeology presents an interactive pop-up showcasing methods from its recent coffin conservation project. Visitors can learn about pigment analysis, photographic and digital heritage imaging, wood technology and experimental archaeology, and try some of the processes hands-on. Talks and activities are led by Dr Kate Fulcher, Antonio Reis and Dr Geoffrey Killen, and the event is part of the wider Marks of a Maker series examining four coffins in the Petrie collection. It is open to ages 14 and over, with under-18s accompanied by an adult.
