About

Art historian Hugh Belsey MBE gives a talk on notable paintings that left Suffolk, followed by Q&A at Moyse's Hall Museum.

This talk explores paintings that have 'escaped' Suffolk — portraits by artists such as Reynolds, Gainsborough and Romney, and works by Wright of Derby, Stubbs and Cimabue — touring the county's lost pictures now held further afield. Speaker Hugh Belsey was Curator of Gainsborough's House in Sudbury for 23 years and wrote an award-winning catalogue of Gainsborough's portraits. The evening includes a talk and Q&A running 7pm–8:30pm, with doors at 6:40pm.
