About
A guided evening walk along the Averon River in Alness using an echometer to detect and record bats.
Cromarty Firth Watershed Environmental Trust hosts a bat discovery evening at Averon River Park. From 4pm, participants meet for a briefing before a discovery walk using an echometer to detect the bats that forage in the area. Organisers demonstrate how to make recordings that contribute to local biodiversity records and explain the role bats play in the ecosystem, with an optional Q&A afterwards. The event runs for about an hour and a half, is weather dependent, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
