Pressure
About
Ilkley Playhouse stages David Haig's tense drama Pressure, about the weather forecasters whose D-Day call decided the Normandy invasion.
David Haig's play dramatises the days before D-Day in June 1944, when the entire Allied invasion fleet waited off the south coast of England for the order to sail. The drama centres on two meteorologists — American Col Irving Krick and Scottish Group Captain James Stagg — who study their charts and instruments but cannot agree on the forecast, while General Eisenhower waits for their verdict under intense pressure. The production runs at Ilkley Playhouse from 29 October to 7 November 2026, with evening performances Monday to Saturday at 19:30 and a matinee-only performance at 14:30 on Saturday 31 October.
