About
An exhibition on Punjabi soldiers in the First World War and the continuing legacies of their service across the Punjabi diaspora.
Developed from a collaborative PhD project, the exhibition combines official archives, family stories, oral traditions and community memory. Interactive displays draw on newly digitised Punjab Registers recording 320,000 Punjabi servicemen, alongside historical artefacts and photographs. Four themes cover recruitment, soldiering and empire, return and memory, and inherited legacies.
