Jessie Stephenson, Militant Champion of Women’s Suffrage: Take Two

Jean Howard revisits the life and suffrage activism of Lincolnshire-born Jessie Stephenson.

Using a newly found personal archive, Howard expands on an earlier presentation. Stephenson became involved in the suffragette movement in London, served a month in Holloway after breaking an MP’s window and later led Manchester’s 1911 census protest before returning to her family in South Thoresby.
