Central Tower Climb

A self-led climb of Durham Cathedral's 325 spiral steps to the top of the Central Tower, with views over the city, historic graffiti and restored stonework to see en route.

Durham Cathedral invites visitors to climb the 325 spiral steps of its Central Tower for unrivalled views over the historic city of Durham. Along the way climbers can discover historic graffiti and admire recently restored stonework completed by the cathedral's in-house masons. Climbs begin on the hour, and each adult may take up to five children, with every climber requiring a ticket. The tower may close at short notice depending on the weather forecast.
