Library Letters Project
About
A self-led pen-pal letter-writing exchange between Nottingham Central Library customers and Mystic & Noank Library in Connecticut, USA, running during library opening hours.
Launched on 21 March 2026, the Library Letters Project pairs Nottingham Central Library with Mystic & Noank Library in Connecticut, USA for a library-to-library pen-pal exchange. Participants pick up an introductory letter from a basket or write their own, then post replies in the library's post box; the libraries post letters to and from the USA, aiming for monthly dispatch on the final Thursday of each month. The activity is entirely self-led, with stationery, envelopes and guidelines provided, and a code of conduct covering kindness, privacy and safety. The programme is geared towards adults, though young people can take part with a parent or guardian's consent.
