Cynefin

Folk musician Owen Shiers performs as Cynefin at Neuadd Ty'n y porth in Penmachno.

Cynefin is the musical project of Owen Shiers, a Welsh folk singer, researcher, grain grower and cultural historian. His debut album Dilyn Afon (2020), produced by John Hollis, set obscure and forgotten folk songs of Ceredigion to music, earning critical acclaim and nominations including Welsh Language Album of the Year 2020. A second album, Shimli, takes its title from the obsolete West Walian practice of all-night musical and poetic vigils and explores the intersection of music, poetry, food and the natural world. Shiers performs as a storyteller and folk musician at this village hall show.
