About

The Bellot Ensemble opens the York Early Music Christmas Festival with an evening of English consort music, song and dance from Lawes to Purcell.

This festival-opening concert takes its cue from the hours after dark, pairing instrumental pieces by Lawes, Jenkins, Locke and Purcell with songs that bring words into close focus. Rather than a carol concert, the programme offers an inward-looking winter evening of consort music, song and dance. The performance runs to approximately 7.45pm and includes mince pies on arrival.
