About
A ten-day pilot photography festival themed 'Beyond the Pale', with free landscape photography exhibitions, workshops, talks and films across Corfe Castle and Swanage.
Sandy Hill Arts is piloting the inaugural Purbeck Photography Festival from 3rd to 11th April 2027, intended as a precursor to an ongoing biennial festival. The first edition's theme is 'Beyond the Pale', with exhibitions focusing on landscape and public access to land, showing work by national and international artists alongside emerging regional practitioners. Free exhibitions will be hosted at Sandy Hill Arts in Corfe Castle and the Mowlem Theatre in Swanage, plus two open-air exhibitions along the Swanage beach promenade. The programme also includes an Open Competition, work from a local school project, workshops on historic processes such as cyanotypes and sun printing, planned speakers, themed films in discussion with the Rex cinema, and a community portrait project.
