About

Professor Angie Hobbs gives a free public talk on how Plato's ideas about flourishing, virtue and justice speak to contemporary issues.

In this talk based on her recent book, Professor Angie Hobbs explores what it means to live a flourishing life and how flourishing relates to the virtues, especially justice. She discusses Plato's treatment of character formation and why returning wrong for wrong never benefits us, and how she has applied his methodology and arguments in education, faith–secular debate, health care and the civil service. The audience is invited to discuss what further lessons Plato can offer in uncertain times. The event takes place in person and is also live streamed.
