Anniversary Collections Conference

A one-day joint conference marking Inverness Museum and Art Gallery’s 201st anniversary and 90 years of the Highland Folk Museum. Four researchers discuss Jacobite collections, Traveller histories, Inverness silver, and Highland plant fibres and basketry.

Hosted by Highland historian Andrew Grant McKenzie, the programme features Jennifer Morag Henderson on Inverness Museum’s Jacobite collections; Dr Rhona Ramsay on how Travellers shaped Highland Folk Museum collections; Lyndsay McGill of R.L. Christie Works of Art on Inverness silver; and Nysa N. Loudon on wild-plant cordage and basketry in the Highland collections. The conference concludes with an exhibition reception at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery. The conference takes place in the Grand Hall at Inverness Town House, followed by the 16:30–18:30 reception at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery. The museum currently reports that its passenger lift is out of order and the entrance has steps; contact the organisers about access.
