About

Take a candlelit Christmas tour of Aston Hall exploring the traditions that shaped modern Christmas, including the Yule Log and Christmas tree, with seasonal music performed by musicians from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

This 45-minute evening tour draws on Washington Irving’s account of “Old Christmas” and the traditions he observed at Aston Hall. Visitors hear how customs such as the Yule Log and Christmas tree developed while exploring the candlelit Grade I listed house. Musicians from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire perform seasonal music. Tours start from the North Courtyard café; the café will be open for light refreshments. Suitable for all ages; upper floors are accessed by stairs and the Hall may be cold. Pre-booking is essential.
