About

A free talk by Blue Action Fund's Executive Director Markus Knigge reflecting on a decade of funding marine conservation and the 30x30 agenda.

Markus Knigge, Executive Director of Blue Action Fund, gives a presentation reflecting on the fund's work as one of the largest funders of area-based marine conservation in the Global South, with a €210 million grant portfolio supporting marine protected areas and coastal communities. Ahead of the fund's tenth anniversary in 2027, he will discuss the funder landscape, what makes investments successful, and what the marine protected area community needs to do better, with an open exchange including critical questions about the fund's own practices and blind spots. The event is hosted by the Cambridge Conservation Initiative and can be attended in person or online.
