Dorset Flora Group: Bryophytes for Beginners and Improvers
About
A two-session outdoor field course led by Jim White and Colleen Smith-Moore, studying bryophytes including mosses, sphagnum and liverworts across heathland habitats.
This linked two-session field course is organised with Dorset Flora Group and Dorset Wildlife Trust Ecology Volunteers (flora). The first session surveys the central and southwestern part of Upton Heath, including dry, humid and wet heathland and mire, with possible woodland; the second session surveys a range of habitats at Tadnoll Heath. Book a place through Dorset Wildlife Trust TeamKinetic; booking is essential for both sessions, and first-time users need to register. Bring lunch and a hand lens if available, dress for outdoor weather and wear wellies. The organisers advise watching for email updates in case of cancellation during adverse weather. Dorset Flora Group meetings are open to all.
