Woodland Mosses for Beginners

A beginner's study day on identifying woodland mosses, with a morning classroom session at Tyland Barn and afternoon field practice at Knock Wood.

Kent Wildlife Trust study day introducing the structure, life cycle and identification of Britain's woodland mosses, of which 750 species are recorded. The morning is spent in the classroom at Tyland Barn learning hand-lens identification features for the 20 most common woodland species, before travelling to Knock Wood near Tenterden in the afternoon to practise field skills (own transport required). Suitable for beginners and improvers, the course is led by botanist and ecologist Ros Bennett.
