Introduction to Wood Engraving (October

A printmaking course at DCA teaching the tools and techniques of wood engraving, with participants creating repeat-pattern prints on Japanese papers.

This course introduces the tools and techniques needed to create prints from wood engravings. Participants work with an end grain practice block and a resin block, using traditional wood engraving tools to develop their designs, then print repeat patterns onto Japanese papers. Everyone leaves with a small collection of prints plus the blocks, which can be reworked and reprinted later.
