Maritime Archaeology
About
A half-day day school on maritime and coastal archaeology, exploring how undersea sites are recorded and protected and what wrecks reveal about Dorset trade and harbours.
The programme runs from 10:00 to 13:00, with registration from 9:30 and tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Talks cover the Marine Historic Environment Record (Hefin Meara, Historic England); heritage crime (Paul Jeffery, Historic England); the Earl of Abergavenny as a Dorset Scheduled site (Terry Newman, Historic England); Salcombe’s Mystery Wreck (Dave Parham, Bournemouth University); a medieval wreck (Tom Cousins, Bournemouth University); and Dorset Harbours in the 15th Century (Mark Forrest). Further speakers are to be confirmed.
