London Philharmonic Orchestra

Paavo Järvi conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra with pianist Benjamin Grosvenor in Beethoven's 'Emperor' Concerto and Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra and Paavo Järvi, its incoming Chief Conductor, join pianist Benjamin Grosvenor for a programme launching the International Concert Series' Beethoven 200 celebrations. The concert opens with Veljo Tormis's Overture No.2, a rarity in British concert halls, before Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.5 'Emperor', a showcase of the composer's 'Heroic' style. Shostakovich's Symphony No.10, widely read as a portrait of life under Stalin, completes the programme.
