Botanical Bas-Relief Plaques Workshop

A hands-on workshop at Holden Clough Nurseries making two botanical bas-relief plaster plaques by pressing flowers into clay.

Participants learn the steps of making bas-relief plaster cast plaques: rolling out clay, arranging fresh flowers and foliage, pressing them into the wet clay, and pouring plaster to set. Each person creates two plaques of approximately 7.5 x 5.5 inches, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with options for hanging hooks or a natural finish. The session runs from 10.30am to around 3.30pm with a 45-minute lunch break and tea breaks; attendees bring a small bunch of seasonal flowers or foliage and an apron.
