About

A natural-history exhibition celebrates John Ray’s life and work as the naturalist from Black Notley, within the Museum’s year-long 400th-anniversary programme.

The Museum celebrates John Ray (1627–1705), born in Black Notley, as a naturalist whose systematic study helped transform biological science. The exhibition opens on Saturday 16 January 2027. Although the exhibitions index describes it as running January–June, the more specific John Ray 400 programme lists the exhibition closing on Saturday 3 July 2027; that dated programme entry is used as the supported end.
