Snibston Colliery Tours – A Coal Miner's Story
About
A guided lantern-lit Halloween tour of the historic Snibston Colliery led by former miners, with ghost stories and the 'Into the Dark' mine simulation.
This Halloween edition of the Snibston Colliery tour lets visitors follow in the footsteps of a Leicestershire coal miner, from the lamp room and control room to the powder magazine, pit top, winding house and medical centre. Guides are experienced former miners, and on the Halloween tours they tell stories of ghostly goings-on in the mines as visitors experience the colliery's spooky atmosphere by lantern light. Underground access is not possible, but the tour includes the 'Into the Dark' mine simulation, the only such experience in the East Midlands. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours, starts and finishes at the Colliery Café, and is suitable for children over 6 accompanied by an adult.
