Innovations Dance Platform: Storm
About
Paweł Sakowicz performs Storm, a solo dance work exploring the hips and the energy of change, as part of Innovations Dance Platform at Summerhall.
Storm is a new solo work by choreographer and dancer Paweł Sakowicz, presented as part of Innovations Dance Platform at Summerhall and based on material first shown at the Sapieha Palace in Vilnius. The piece takes the hips as its central theme, with the artist activating them as they open, rotate, tense and freeze, drawing on his personal dance history and the stylistics of animation and early cinema. It continues Sakowicz's research into intense physicality and the activation of different parts of the body, seen in earlier works such as Jumpcore, Masakra, Boa and Laguna. The presentation is supported by the Polish Culture Institute, London.
