Erasure: Drawing Out Of Darkness

A relaxed Sunday afternoon charcoal drawing workshop at Summerhall led by artist Jules Bradbury, inspired by Frank Auerbach's Charcoal Heads.

Part of Summerhall's Creative Learning programme, this workshop explores charcoal as a drawing material, inspired by Frank Auerbach's Charcoal Heads. Participants work with charcoal in various forms — block, stick, pencil and powder — through playful exercises that consider erasure as a drawing technique. Echoing Auerbach's approach, drawings are constructed and deconstructed to develop selectiveness in mark-making. The session runs from 2pm to 4:30pm.
