Sulaf

Sudanese singer and oud player Sulaf performs music from her debut album ABA, blending Sudanese traditions with oud, voice and electronics.

Sulaf, a Sudanese singer, oud player and composer, performs material drawing on Sudan's musical heritage, from Nubian-rooted rhythms to devotional and folk traditions. Her debut album ABA, created with French producer Maxime Kosinetz, uses the Sufi poetry of her great-grandfather to explore themes of loss, identity, exile and resilience following the outbreak of war in Sudan. The performance blends oud, voice, electronics and expansive arrangements, and is suitable for ages 14+.
