About

Artist Simon Crawford follows the Shining Lights of the North Way between Rievaulx, Byland and Fountains abbeys, exhibiting seasonal sketches and paintings shaped by the same landscapes once painted by Turner, Sell Cotman and Girtin.

Crawford describes the exhibition as an exploration of the landscape and of earlier artists who depicted it. The What’s On page dates it from Saturday 12 September to Sunday 1 November 2026 and says it is free to visit outside the paid museum area. During October and November the museum’s listed opening hours are 10am–4pm, Saturday to Thursday, closed Fridays.
