Work Party at Ward's Coombe

A joint Butterfly Conservation and Chiltern Rangers work party carrying out habitat tasks at Ward's Coombe to benefit the Duke of Burgundy butterfly.

Volunteers join a practical conservation work party at Ward's Coombe, run jointly by Butterfly Conservation's Upper Thames branch and Chiltern Rangers. Tasks include cutting and raking grassland and planting patches of scrub and cowslips, protected with deer netting, to improve the site as a habitat and stepping stone for the Duke of Burgundy butterfly. Chiltern Rangers provide hot drinks, tools and safety gear, and attendees should arrive on time for the health and safety and task briefing. Booking is required via Eventbrite, and outdoor events may be cancelled at short notice in winter.
