Women in Conservation Practical Work Party
About
A free women-only practical conservation day at Sizergh learning traditional coppicing with the National Trust ranger team.
The South Cumbria and North Lancashire National Trust ranger team hosts a women-only practical conservation day focused on coppicing, a traditional woodland management technique that creates varied habitats for wildflowers and wildlife. Participants use bowsaws and loppers under the guidance of the female ranger team, with cut wood used for bean poles, hedge stakes and brash piles. In the afternoon there is an optional walk discussing Sizergh's wildlife and ecology, with brews and cake provided. No experience is needed; 12–17-year-olds may attend with an adult.
