Warsaw Calling: Uprising 1944
About
An exhibition on the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, featuring personal stories, archival material and unseen images, plus a display on Polish women in northern England.
The exhibition tells the story of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, when the Polish underground resistance rose against Nazi occupation on 1 August 1944 and fought for 63 days. It uses personal stories, rare archival material and previously unseen images to reveal the courage, resilience and sacrifice of fighters and civilians. A complementary display, Northern Heroines by Polonia Northern England, highlights three women connected to the Polish community in northern England. The exhibition was curated by the Polish Underground Movement Study Trust in partnership with Polonia Northern England.
