Heartbeats in Clave! Afro-Latin American Music Workshop with Juan

This workshop teaches participants how to sing and play Afro-Latin American songs using the fundamental clave rhythm.

Participants of all levels will learn to feel and clap the clave, which represents the heartbeat of Afro-Latin American music. They will then use this rhythm to sing one or two traditional Afro-Latin songs. Experienced participants may also have the opportunity to learn rhythmic patterns on conga drums and shakers.
