Ceramics Workshop: Kurinuki Yunomi Cup

A hands-on ceramics workshop at Studio Kinkou where participants carve their own unique Yunomi tea cup using the Japanese kurinuki technique.

A hands-on ceramics workshop teaching kurinuki, a Japanese technique of carving a cup from a single block of clay. Participants shape a unique Yunomi tea cup, hollowing the interior layer by layer and optionally adding a hand-formed foot ring, then choose from glaze variations. The finished, glazed cup is posted to attendees roughly three weeks later; the price covers materials, glazes, firing and postage, with teas and cake provided during the 2.5-hour session.
