Neurodiversity and the Therapeutic Environment
About
A one-day in-person training course in Harrogate exploring the brain, sensory systems and communication challenges underlying neurodiversity for therapeutic work.
This full-day course examines the foundations of neurodivergence, covering how the brain is wired, characteristics of ADHD and Autism, and how sensory experience can differ for neurodivergent people. Sessions also address anxiety, trauma, and the difficulties neurodivergent people face with communication in a world geared to neurotypical interaction. The day includes activity work on participants' own biases and assumptions, and concludes by considering barriers to support and connection within the therapeutic environment, ending with a questions session.
