Simon Spillett Big Band
About
An all-star UK jazz big band led by tenor saxophonist Simon Spillett performs Tubby Hayes' music at The Civic Trowbridge.
The Simon Spillett Big Band, an all-star jazz orchestra formed in 2020, celebrates the music of saxophonist Tubby Hayes, reviving the excitement of his 1960s big band. The programme uses Hayes' own arrangements, many never issued on record, alongside pieces by contemporaries such as Jimmy Deuchar and Harry South. The band's debut album 'Dear Tubby H.' (2023) earned a five-star Jazzwise review, and its second album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in summer 2025. Age guidance is 11+, with under-16s needing a ticket-holding adult.
